Noah is a yogurt fiend. If he sees a container of yogurt, especially strawberry, he flips out and starts crawling/climbing/parachuting to the holder of the yogurt. If you take the last bite without making sure he is done with the yogurt, he gives you a what for and then asks for (nay, demands!) more.

It’s so bad that I dropped some on my hand (because I am a classy eater) and he dove to clean it off with his tongue before I had a chance to react. Of course, I was totally mature and jerked my hand away while saying “that’s my mess and I’ll clean it up myself” with a lick. I’m not all bad – I did give him more with the spoon.

While I don’t mind that Noah loves yogurt, given the fact that it’s full of probiotics and relatively low sugar compared to what else is out there, I do mind that he is also a chocolate fiend. Dove milk chocolate is one of my vices. One small piece can meet my chocolate quota for the day but I rarely buy it because it’s not exactly the cheapest chocolate out there (though definitely not as expensive as many others). However, this last Christmas, when Walmart clearanced all of the holiday related items, I stocked up on a few bags of it and I keep it hidden in the closet. Today I grabbed a piece of chocolate and hid it, thinking that Noah wouldn’t find it and I could eat it in a few minutes when I was ready.

You see where this is going, right?

We were watching Hell’s Kitchen when I noticed that Noah was really quiet beside me. I peek over and he’s sitting cross legged, facing away from me, nibbling on a piece of chocolate like a squirrel with an acorn. I grabbed the rest of it, much to his disappointment, and finished it off for him. (I wasn’t too mean – I did give him a tiny sliver.) That’s the first time Noah has ever willingly held his hand out to be wiped off, too. I guess he was just happy he got away with it…that or the sugar was kicking in because 10 minutes later, he was bouncing around the bed. *sigh*

In other news, he’s about 5 seconds away from walking. As long as he has a grip on one finger, no matter how light his grip may be, he feels empowered enough to walk all over the place. I really expect him to just stand up and start running one of these days. Then I’ll really be in trouble.

No, in all seriousness, I’m really proud of him. Being cautious is never something to be ashamed of and he is certainly cautious…but he is also willing to take the risks necessary to learn new things. If impressing me was the point, he achieved his goal.

I’m really not happy with this entry. The content is great but the execution is dismal. I’m terrible at writing anecdotes. However, I told myself to write and I wrote and I’m posting it, happy or not, because learning how to write to others is kind of the point of this blog so here goes. I’m hitting publish…now. *cringe*
